Lessons

10 free lessons, 20 minutes each day

Monday through Friday

In each lesson participants begin with a brief orientation covering pool rules, recognizing lifeguards, and basic emergency signals. The lesson then transitions to practical skills, starting with how to enter and exit the water safely. Instructors teach floating techniques, treading water, and basic strokes like the front crawl and backstroke to build confidence and mobility. Emphasis is placed on breath control, staying calm in deep water, and how to call for help. The session concludes with group activities that reinforce safe behaviors, such as practicing reaching assists and simulating safe responses to someone in trouble.

Aidan McCorkle

Hi, my name is Aidan McCorkle and I am an active member at the North Palm Beach Swim Team. I have been swimming competitively for 6 years, and I am a Red Cross Certified Water Safety (WSI) Instructor as well as a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard.

While organizing a Swim for Understanding Meet with Best Buddies International, we learned of the need for water safety lessons within various groups in our community, to include the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community. This is our campaign to help close that gap

Blake Peters

Hello, my name is Blake Peters and I am also a competitive swimmer at the North Palm Beach Swim Team, as well as being a Red Cross Certified WSI and Lifeguard .

I look forward to helping people gain more confidence and safety in the pool, and will work with everyone and their needs.
